Kevin Muscat has pleaded to Melbourne Victory fans not to stress because they are “active” in bringing in the right players.
It was announced yesterday Victory re-signed Socceroo James Troisi after the vast speculation surrounding him linking him to Brighton and Hove Albion and Melbourne City.
Victory have a tough Round of 32 FFA Cup match on August 9 against Brisbane Roar at Perry Park.
The Big V have so far lost key men Nick Ansell, Daniel Georgievski, Marco Rojas, Fahid Ben Khalfallah, Alan Baro and Rashid Mahazi from season 2016/17.
It is understood Rojas will join Dutch Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen after a successful second stint at Victory.
And with the yesterday’s re-signing of Troisi, Muscat said “it didn’t have anything to do” with Rojas’ departure.
“The search will go on to replace players that have left, no different to anyone else,” Muscat said.
“There’s no doubt, I can assure you we’re working hard to make sure the appropriate replacement is found.”
So far Victory have signed Socceroo Rhys Williams and All White Kosta Barbarouses for his second stint at the club.
Barbarouses trained for the first time on Thursday and Muscat was assured fans announcements were coming their way.
“I can’t be specific in terms of timeframes but without doubt we’re active,” he said.
“We’ve still got a few foreign places available to us also.
“We’ve had a couple join us already now. Jimmy (Troisi) will start training immediately. I’m hopeful, sooner rather than later. But however long it takes, it takes.”
