Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat believes the only disappointing aspect about the 1-1 draw with Perth Glory on Friday night was failing to win.
Despite Glory hitting the front early courtesy of Andy Keogh, Victory equalised on the brink of half-time through Besart Berisha and had a cluster of chances to score the winner.
The home side ended up with a total of 20 shots to Glory's three.
“All in all, the only disappointing thing about tonight is we wake up and it’s written we drew 1-1 because we should’ve beaten them,” Muscat said.
“We couldn’t finish them off and we didn’t take another opportunity. It's disappointing, but it would be far more disappointing if we didn’t create opportunities or have that endeavour to go on and create chances and win the game.
"Right now I’m disappointed but I’ll be fine.”
Depleted Glory frustrate Victory
Muscat was unhappy about the start of the game after Chris Harold’s cut back to Keogh opened the scoring.
“We knew what to expect, we planned to create chances and certainly did that, but it was most disappointing the way to coughed up our goal,” he said.
“You can’t give anyone a head start and that’s basically what we did, it was schoolboy defending for us as a team.
“And it ends up being their shot only on target, it gives them something to hold onto.”
Victory play Western Sydney Wanderers at ANZ Stadium next week and will expected to field Nick Ansell and Daniel Georgievski who did not partake against Glory due to past niggles.
