Melbourne Victory coach Kevin Muscat maintains his side's standing on the A-League table is not a true reflection of the points they deserve this season.
Victory have lost just two games this season and sit third on the table with a game in hand as they approach Round Nine against Perth Glory on Friday night.
After coming off a 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets last week, the Victory boss believes they could be higher on the table.
“We’re comfortable, I’ve certainly maintained our performances have been very good,” Muscat said.
“If we’ve had to sit here and review the season so far, we’d be disappointed with letting some points slip.
“We’re comfortable and steadily improving, getting to a position where we’ve got to settle the squad, so that hasn’t happened in the first part of the season for us.
“We believe we’ve got improvements in us… our biggest disappointment is we haven’t returned the amount of points we think we’ve deserved.
“Having said that those games where we’ve dropped points, we’ve got to take responsibility for them and make sure we learn from them and it doesn’t happen again, all in all we’re fairly pleased.”
Winger Mitch Austin rolled his ankle in the Jets game with Muscat originally believing it was not severe, but ruled him out for two weeks this morning.
First-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas will most likely come back after missing Sunday’s game with a finger injury while left-back Daniel Georgievski returns from his collar-bone injury.
And while on paper the Glory have bags of experience, Muscat noticed their inconsistencies this season as they sit fifth on the table.
Glory fell 2-0 to last season’s wooden spooner's Central Coast Mariners, however the Victory boss said the spread of talent in the squad poses genuine danger.
“We’ll treat them with respect and they’ve assembled a very good squad this season and we’ll show them that respect and worry about what we do,” he said.
“The ultimate respect we can pay any opposition is worrying about ourselves and making sure we’re right.
“We’ve come off the back of a good result and performance last week and we want to improve on that, the performance and take three points.”
