But the A-League veteran insists he is happy with the squad he's got as they take aim at the top of the table.

Marquee signing Keisuke Honda is the biggest loss to Victory with his return from a hamstring injury likely to be at least another month away, while Georg Niedermeier has no firm recovery date from his calf injury.

There's also no return in sight yet for Jai Ingham with his quad injury and Nick Ansell's pulled hamstring.

The growing injury crisis has seen Muscat call teenagers Birkan Kirdar and Anthony Lesiotis into his squad for tomorrow night's game against Adelaide United, along with 22 year old midfielder Elvis Kamsoba.

Muscat today joked he might need to get football operations manager Paul Trimboli and head of high performance Anthony Crea kitted up to play.

"It's been the story of our season that we've been bringing in players and losing players," he said. "It's a credit to our group that we've been able to maintain a level of performance that's earn us results.

"This week's no different for us."

However Muscat admitted he was keeping his options open on the transfer market.

"You always have your ears open and your eyes to the ground in looking [sic]," he said."[But there are] a lot of difficulties with numbers and salary caps and all those things.

"But at this point in time we are really happy with the squad we've got."

He dismissed any fears of losing key players to rivals or overseas.

"I don't worry about it," he said. "If it's going to happen, if you're going to get a phone call, you're going to get a phone call.

"Ultimately we put a team together that we wanted to challenge and perform at a certain level – and all the attention that comes with that.

"At this point in time, we'll just assess and deal with every situation in isolation."
