Numerous matches and endless camps have provided young players with the chance to really get to know each other and Musialik says that bond should not be downplayed.

The Sydney FC midfielder told au.fourfourtwo.com: "We’ve all played a lot of football together and that’s going to be a very important factor.

"We all know each other as well as if we were a club side and that’s rare in international football.

"I think we’re in good stead to cause some upsets. How often do you see the team with lots of big names but they just don’t perform together?

"Maybe some of the other teams will have bigger names but they will have people who step off a plane and join a squad. That’s not the case with us.

"We’ve had a long preparation. Hopefully our team will be stronger than individual opponents."

Musialik is taking nothing for granted but would love to be part of a unique moment in Australian footballing history.

He said: "To come home with a medal would be something very special on the mantlepiece, a massive achievement.

"No football side in Australia has done it in the past so it would be special to create some history for the country, for sure."

The Olyroos will return to camp later this week before taking on the New Zealand Under 23s at North Sydney Oval on Saturday.
