ADRIAN Mutu has denied reports he is considering retiring from football after being ordered to pay a £14.6million fine to Chelsea.
The Fiorentina striker was told earlier this month he must pay compensation after the Court of Arbitration for Sport upheld FIFA's controversial ruling for breach of contract.
"I was angry and disappointed," Mutu said, according to fiorentina.it.
"But I feel better now. It has never crossed my mind to retire from football.
"I will play for at least five or six more years, even though it will not play at the level I am playing now."
The 30-year-old hopes to seek a solution with Chelsea having stated he cannot afford to pay the hefty fine.
Mutu was sacked by Chelsea in 2004 when he tested positive for cocaine, but the Blues complained when he resumed his career at Juventus following a drug-ban.
Mutu, who claimed he will continue to seek a solution with Chelsea, agreed last week to be represented again by Giovani and Victor Becali, the agents who assisted him during the English FA hearings before being both sacked by the player.
"I have reconciled with them," said Mutu. "They are important to me. They don't want to transfer me somewhere else and they can help me resolve my problem with Chelsea."
Reports in Italy claimed that the Romanian international could seek a transfer to a Russian club in order to help ease his financial troubles.
However, Mutu insisted his future is with Fiorentina.
"I will remain at Fiorentina," he said. "I am very calm in Florence and I have no reason to leave."
