Nagoya Grampus will be looking to build upon their recent domestic success by making a winning start to the 2011 Asian Champions League when they take on debutants Hangzhou Greentown at Yellow Dragon Stadium tomorrow.
The J.League champions no doubt head into the game in confident mood after claiming their first silverware of the year by beating Kashima Antlers 3-1 on penalties to secure the Japan Super Cup.
And coach Dragan Stojkovic wants his side to carry on that winning mentality into their Group F opener against Hangzhou.
"We aim to win in each tournament," he said. "We want to play our best football in the clash against Hangzhou.
"Frankly, Hangzhou are total strangers to me and I know very little about the team. Through the videos, I can sense they are an aggressive and never-say-die team.
"I would think the match tomorrow will be exciting and tough for both sides."
Meanwhile, Hangzhou coach Wu Jingui warned Nagoya not to expect his side to roll over tomorrow.
While the Chinese side may be making their debut in the tournament, they performed above all expectations to finish fourth in their domestic league last season.
"Though the opponents are stronger than us, I can guarantee that we will do our utmost tomorrow," said Wu.
"We will fight on the pitch because we don't want to give up the great chance. We are well prepared and we are also looking to claim a victory."
Hangzhou brought in experienced players such as captain Du Wei and winger Sun Ji last year and the pair have played an important role in the side's quick rise to prominence in the region.
"Hangzhou went all out to build up a stronger side in order to compete in the ACL," added Wu.
"We will cherish this opportunity and show Asia and the world what Hangzhou football looks like.
"We won't feel nervous in the ACL opener. I believe we have become stronger than last season."
