Steven Naismith is hoping a profitable season at Rangers will force him into the reckoning for Euro 2008 if Scotland qualify.
The striker, celebrating his 21st birthday today, earned his first senior cap as a substitute in a qualifier against the Faroe Islands in June.
He has since found himself back into the Scotland Under-21 side, skippering the youngsters to a goalless draw with Denmark just hours before Scotland's 1-0 win in France on Wednesday night.
Like any Scot, Naismith would loved to have been a part of the incredible scenes in Paris and he is now hoping to be involved should Scotland defy all the odds and book their place at Euro 2008.
He said: "I've had the chance to play with the full squad, which was great, and that has given me the incentive. If I can do well for Rangers, then hopefully the international manager will see that.
"It would have been unbelievable to have been involved in the France game. But hopefully, if we make the finals, there will be more opportunities like that if I do well.
"They are Scottish legends now and that's what every boy dreams of being for his country. I'm no different."
Rangers resume domestic duties against Hearts in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League at Tynecastle tomorrow, before hosting Stuttgart in their Champions League opener on Wednesday.
Naismith hopes the feelgood factor which has followed Scotland's return from France can bolster the Ibrox club ahead of both games.
"It was a great night and the boys did exceptionally well," he said. "No-one would have given us a chance of beating France in both games.
"The boys have come back buzzing and it has pushed on into our own training, which is great.
"We have to take that into the Hearts game and then next week's Champions League match. Hopefully it has a positive effect on everybody."
Naismith completed a £2million move to Rangers from Kilmarnock on transfer deadline day and he added: "All the boys have been great. We've been training for the last couple of days and I've got to know them well.
"I feel as though I'm settling in well. There are so many great guys about the place and I'm just glad to be a part of it."
