The game went all according to Adelaide's plan of simply sticking to the task and the rewards would follow.

“It was a little bit hairy the first half, we created a number of chances and we just lacked a little bit of quality in front of goal,” Vidmar said.

“But the boys were very positive at half time and we knew once the first one would go in then we’d get a couple and that’s exactly what happened.”

Vidmar also made mention of Burns’ impact but he was also quick to commend every player’s performance.

“I think that’s the type of game he (Burns) can play and the 10-15 minutes when he hit the afterburners it really opened the game up for us,” Vidmar said.

“But in saying that, everyone played their part.”

Adding to The Reds’ comprehensive win over Binh Duong was the news from Korea that the Pohang Steelers had drawn 2-2 with Changchun Yatai in the other Group E match, sending United two points clear on top of the table with two matches remaining.

United host the Steelers at Hindmarsh Stadium before the team travels to China to meet Changchun Yatai in the finale of the Group phase on May 21, which could decide if Adelaide United will feature in the Quarter Final Stage in September.
