Twenty-five Indigenous teams from as far as Cape York,  Armidale, Mt Isa, Dubbo and the South Coast will be competing for the title of Australian Indigenous champions.

This is the second year the tournament has taken place at the Shoalhaven Sporting Complex in Nowra and this year's theme will be: 'Strive To Strengthen & Unite as One'.

The NIFC is headlined by former Australian youth international and A-League star James Brown with the Johnny Warren Celebrity another highlight of the three day event.

The Opening Ceremony - including a welcome dance with representatives from all around the country kicked of the festivities yesterday and today’s events include men’s and women’s group games which runs through till Friday.

The Indigenous Mini Roos Gala Day involving the Western Sydney Wanders will also take place on Friday followed by the men’s and Women’s Grand Finals on Saturday along with the NIFC relay race.

An after party presentation night on Saturday is open to the public will conclude events with music by DJ - Dan Searle.
