FERNANDO Navarro labelled June 18, 2008 "a day to remember" after completing his move to Sevilla and making his debut for Spain at Euro 2008 on Wednesday.
Speaking to Sevilla's radio station SFC Radio from Austria on Thursday, the 25-year-old left back spoke of his delight at having signed a five-year deal in Andalucia, claiming it was a move he had been after for some time.
"Wednesday was a great day to remember, due to my debut in the Spanish national team and the closing of the deal to take me to Sevilla," he told SFC Radio.
"This is a big club, and something which I've been after for a while now.
"From the beginning I said I wanted to play for Sevilla, take a step up in my career, and I know that Sevilla have made a great effort for me, so we're all happy.
"I'm starting a new stage (in my career) full of excitement, and with a great desire to work and with the intention of continuing to improve to give my best to Sevilla."
The former Mallorca and Barcelona defender won his first cap for Spain on the same day as his transfer in a 2-1 win over Greece at the European Championships.
Despite the fact that his transfer was not completed until halfway through the third week of the tournament, Navarro admitted that he had been learning all about the club from the Sevilla players among the Spanish contingent in Austria and Switzerland.
"Since the first day in the camp (Sevilla goalkeeper Andres) Palop has been telling me all about the club, the city, and everything he has told me has been good," he revealed.
