Necevski only joined the Mariners on a one-year deal in June last year, but the club confirmed his departure on Thursday afternoon.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper dropped to second choice this term, behind Izzo, making only seven A-League appearances.

Necevski had earned a reprieve in March after an Izzo red card and saved a penalty against Sydney FC, but lost his spot again.

Izzo was officially unveiled as an Adelaide United signing on Wednesday, meaning the Mariners have lost their two first-choice keepers from the 2016-17 season already.

The only remaining goalkeeper on the club’s books is 20-year-old local Adam Pearce.

Necevski wrote on Instagram: "Football is a funny game, gives you the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, being told you are no longer required in any job is never a good feeling especially in the football world.

"Everytime I put that jersey on, be it at training or in games, I gave my blood, sweat and tears for the team."

The Mariners also farewelled Irish striker Roy O’Donovan on Wednesday after his move to Newcastle Jets was officially confirmed.

As reported by FourFourTwo in February, Senegalese duo Jacques Faty and Mickael Tavares are unlikely to be re-signed.

Scottish skipper Nick Montgomery is also off contract, while Fabio Ferreira has been linked with Western Sydney Wanderers.
