SOCCEROOS skipper Lucas Neill has hinted he wants to stay with UAE giants Al Jazira as he considers his options with his current contract to expire at the end of this season.
The 34-year-old former Everton, West Ham and Blackburn defender joined Al Jazira on a one-year deal last August.
Neill told Sport360 he had enjoyed a “wonderful” season with Al Jazira, where the club lifted the President's Cup and topped their AFC Champions League group but failed to defend their Pro-League title.
“My contract comes to an end soon. There are a lot of things happening,” Neill said.
“I’ve got World Cup qualifiers to look forward to. So, all in all, I think this season has been a wonderful one both on and off the pitch.”
The Australian defender, who has had his critics during his time in UAE, went on to say he wants to sit down with Al Jazira chairman Mohammed Thani Al Romaithi to discuss a new deal when the “time is right” and “definitely would like to have it as an option” to stay in Abu Dhabi.
He added: “I’ve been really pleased with the way things have gone and really excited for the future too.”
