EUROROOS WRAP: Socceroos skipper Lucas Neill conceded a penalty as Galatasaray slumped to a shock 2-1 loss at newly promoted Karabukspor in Turkey's Super Lig overnight.
The result, which comes after Galatasaray had won four Super Lig games in a row, sees Karabukspor leapfrog the Istanbul giants into third place.
The match started poorly for Galatasaray after Neill dived in on Emmanuel Emenike inside the box and while it appeared the Australian took the ball the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty.
Karabukspor's Florin Cernat stepped up and coolly converted the resultant spotkick to give the hosts a second minute lead.
Less than ten minutes later they were 2-0 up when Hakan Ozmert's deflected effort went in and it could have been before the break with Karabukspor dominating the chances.
Neill was replaced at half-time, while fellow Socceroo Harry Kewell put in a full shift as Cimbom searched for a reply.
Galatasaray pulled a goal back with quarter of an hour to go through Baris Ozbek but it was too little too late.
Kewell had a late chance to clinch a point for Cimbom, when he met Sabri Sarioglu's cross but the Australian's header was straight at Karabukspor keeper Vjekoslav Tomic.
In Romania's Liga I, Spase Dilevski did not play as Universitatea Craiova ended their struggles with a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Universitatea Cluj on Friday.
In Ireland's Premier Division, Bohemians' Aussie goalkeeper Chris O'Connor was sent off against his former club Bray Wanderers in a match which ended 0-0 on Friday.
