AUSSIES ABROAD: Socceroos skipper Lucas Neill has scored for Galatasaray in their 4-1 triumph over Diyarbakirspor in the Turkish Super Lig overnight.
Neill, who put in a full shift for Cimbom, scored from a goalmouth scramble after corner when he volleyed in from close-range on 51 minutes to make it 3-0.
The goal was Neill's first since joining the Turkish giants in the January transfer window.
Milan Baros scored a hat-trick for Galatasaray, who emphatically defeated Diyarbakirspor, who didn't use Bruce Djite.
Galatasaray are third, five points behind leaders Bursaspor.
In England's Premier League, key Socceroos midfielder Vince Grella got a full 90 minutes under his belt as Blackburn Rovers held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw.
And early on, Grella picked out Blackburn bigman Christopher Samba who saw his downward header well saved.
Grella also had a good day defensively, affording Manchester United's forward line little time or space.
Fellow Aussie Brett Emerton also started for Rovers, but was worryingly replaced after 45 minutes with a slight hamstring injury.
Elsewhere in the EPL, for the second season in a row Mark Schwarzer kept a clean sheet at Anfield, as Fulham drew 0-0 with Liverpool.
Schwarzer had a good day for the Cottagers, producing several fine saves including a super stop from Ryan Babel's powerful effort.
Fulham boss Roy Hodgson said after the game: ''On the occasions when they got good strikes in Mark Schwarzer was equal to it. It is another excellent clean sheet."
In Sweden's Allsvenskan, Ante Covic played a full game for IF Elfsborg as they lost 2-1 at Helsingborgs.
The Australian goalkeeper was beaten by a speculative long-range Ardian Gashi strike early in the second-half before Elfsborg equalized through Denni Avdic on the hour mark.
But Helsingborgs won it on 63 minutes, after Covic had done well to save a free-kick, Marcus Holgersson swooped on the rebound with the Socceroo powerless to prevent the goal.
In Italy's Serie A, Mark Bresciano worryingly remains absent for Palermo, who firmed for fourth place and the final UEFA Champions League spot after a 3-1 win over Chievo Verona.
In Switzerland's Super League, Scott Chipperfield put in a full shift for FC Basel, just days after signing a new one-year deal with the club, as they won 2-1 at FC Zurich to stay in the title race.
In Germany's 2.Bundesliga, Dario Vidosic was an unused substitute for MSV Duisburg as they drew 1-1 with Greuther Fuerth.
In Portugal's Liga Sagres, Jason Davidson was an unused sub as Pacos Ferreira lost 2-0 at Leixoes.
In Denmark's Superliga, Brent McGrath made a brief appearance as a 90th minute substitute for Brondby as they won 1-0 at Odense BK.
In Norway's Eliteserien, Jade North's Tromso IL kept up their fine start to the season with a 2-0 win over Haugesund but the Aussie didn't feature remaining an unused sub.
In Greece's Beta Ethniki, Nathan Burns started and played 56 minutes as AO Kerkyra took another step towards automatic promotion after defeating Rhodos AS 1-0.
In Japan's J.League, Eddy Bosnar played a full game for Shimizu S-Pulse as they returned to the summit with a commanding 5-1 win over newly promoted Vegalta Sendai.
Meanwhile in the second tier J2.League, Mark Milligan put in a full shift for JEF United Chiba as they moved into second with a 4-0 triumph over Yokohama.
