The UK press have today reported Neill, 31, refused to sign a new $5million, one year deal with the London club, despite West Ham offering him over a million more than they planned in a bid to keep him.

Now Neill - currently in Dubai training with the Socceroos squad ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Qatar on Saturday - is said to be courted by Kewell's Turkish Superlig side Galatasaray and also Greek club, Olympiakos.

Neill's contract runs out at the end of this month after signing on at West Ham from Blackburn Rovers for a reported $150,000 a week two years ago.

Since then though, the global financial crisis has hit the club's Icelandic owner hard and wages are being cut as they tighten their belt.

The offered new deal is around a third less than Neill is said to earn under his old contract. He is also understood to be wanting a longer contract than just one year.

According to The Times and the Daily Mail in the UK, he also wants an assurance of a guaranteed first team place at any new club to ensure he is ready for the World Cup next year if Australia qualify as expected.

He has also been linked with a possible move to Manchester City to play alongside Robinho.
