GARY Neville is hoping to take another step forward tomorrow to re-establishing himself in the Manchester United team.
The England defender wants to build on his first half performance against Aberdeen last week when they face Kaizer Chiefs at the Newlands Stadium in the Vodacom Challenge.
Neville, 33, came through the friendly at Pittodrie unscathed after a long absence through injury.
He was only taken off after 45 minutes as a precaution by manager Sir Alex Ferguson after such a long time out.
Neville said: "From a personal point of view the game against Aberdeen was the first rung on the ladder as it was the first time I had performed for 14 months.
"Tomorrow will be a lot more difficult match but if I am given the opportunity is one I would look forward to. It is exciting."
Club captain Neville could only look on last season as United won the European Cup and retained their Premier League title.
He added: "I was frustrated at not being part of what was a great time for the club.
"I hope these pre-season games help my fitness and sharpness in what should hopefully be another successful season."
Meanwhile United have told supporters to be on their guard regarding counterfeit merchandise.
With the help of the South African authorities, teams of experts will patrol grounds at training sessions and matches throughout the tournament.
According to United over 90,000 items worth more than £1.2million have been seized in the last five years.
Chief executive David Gill said: "Fakes are generally of inferior quality and you can rarely return an item when anything goes wrong as the seller has moved on.
"We are confident we can protect many of our loyal fans who want to show their support for the team."
