Phil Neville has yet to make a decision on his future after opting to leave Everton following an eight-year spell with the club.
The former Manchester United man was in the stands for the Goodison Park outfit's 2-1 final-day defeat at Chelsea as he continues to struggle with a knee injury which has kept him out of the action since March.
Neville admitted emotions have been running high during the last week of his Everton career, however he stressed he was excited to have a number of potential options after refusing to rule out continuing as a professional player.
"It has been an emotional week and a fantastic eight years. I am looking forward to the next challenge in my career. It has been a tough season but one of the most enjoyable," he told the club's official website.
"I am in a position many people would love to be in. I am coming to the end of my football career and I have got many options.
"I have been preparing for this moment for a number of years. I will take the next couple of weeks to wind down and mentally rest after a hectic couple of weeks. Then I will make my decision and I back myself to make the right decision.
"I have not made a decision yet - I have not officially retired yet."
The 36-year-old has made 25 appearances this season but, although he has been able to maintain a good level of fitness until his recent injury, he insisted he is unsure whether he will be able to cope with the strain of football at the highest level for much longer.
He added: "Over the next couple of weeks that is the main decision I have to make; whether my body is up to the physical demands of Premier League football. I will sit down with my wife and family and come to that decision.
"I have thought about it but I will take a couple of weeks and have a holiday, then make the decision."
