Now he is determined to add an SPL title medal to his growing trophy haul.

McDonald scored three goals in two SPL matches in March, while also picking up a Co-operative Insurance Cup winners' medal after a 2-0 win over Rangers.

And he started for Australia last Wednesday as they beat Uzbekistan 2-0.

McDonald, whose side host Falkirk tomorrow, said: "I didn't quite expect it but it's always nice to pick up awards.

"It's another one to my little collection and hopefully there are a few more to come.

"It's always nice to pick up individual awards but more than anything it would be nice to pick up another trophy at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old added: "It gives you a little kick-on in confidence when people acknowledge you have been playing well.

"I'm feeling good about myself at the moment, coming off the back of a successful trip away with Australia.

"We only need one point and we've qualified for the World Cup. We've almost booked our ticket, which is a great feeling.

"It's nice to be a part of that. It would be great to continue playing for my country but the only way I can do that is by playing well for Celtic."

McDonald insists his third game in eight days is no issue despite his return journey to the other side of the world.

The former Motherwell player started in Saturday's 4-0 win over Hamilton, which helped Celtic maintain their three-point lead over Rangers.

"It's not a problem for me," he said. "I enjoy it. I rang the manager before I played the game in Australia, just to let him know how things were going and that I'd be playing.

"The first thing I said was that I'd be ready for Saturday.

"He said: 'That's good but we'll get you back first and assess you'.

"I said: 'No, I'll be right for Saturday'. I want to play in every game and I'm looking forward to another one."
