Under the new deal, Foxtel - broadcaster of Fox Sports - will now be the official partner of the Australian national football teams, official supplier to the Hyundai A-League and official partner of the A-League Finals Series.

FFA Chief Executive Officer Ben Buckley said the similarities between the two organisations made the partnership an ideal fit.

“Football continues to offer a huge and international array of entertainment to its Australian audiences," he said.

"From World Cup qualifiers and showpiece internationals, to the week-in week-out quality entertainment of the A-League – and hence the great fit with our new partner Foxtel."

He added: “Football at the top level is all about providing world class entertainment and that is exactly what Foxtel’s focus is too.

“The two brands are extremely complementary, and this partnership is a natural addition to our broadcast agreement with Fox Sports who sit on the Foxtel platform.

“The channels on Foxtel have shown a huge commitment to football from around the world with Fox Sports leading the way.

"This new partnership will see Foxtel commit to even more support and promotional activity for our matches and events.”

Foxtel Chief Executive Kim Williams said the agreement was another demonstration of Foxtel's commitment to Football.

“Since Fox Sports, with the full backing of Foxtel, obtained football from free-to-air, it has worked vigorously with the FFA to breathe new life into the sport in Australia," he said.

"The results have been astonishing with a lively competition, excellent ratings and tremendous support from the fans.

“Foxtel is delighted to be taking our commitment one step further tying our brand to football and its key competitions in Australia.

“With this agreement and Fox Sports exclusive broadcast rights of the A-League, the Asian Cup and Socceroos’ home qualifying matches for the World Cup, Foxtel is football.”
