The Charruas will visit the Socceroos on June 2 in Sydney for their first meeting since 2005, when Australia won the play-off between the two sides for a place at the following year's World Cup in Germany.

Uruguay are warming up ahead of the Copa America in Venezuela, to be played from June 26 to July 15, where they will contest Group A alongside the host nation, Bolivia and Peru.

Coach Oscar Tabarez admitted that "some important players might be out of the team" for the championship, which Uruguay will be trying to win for the first time since 1995.

He added: "There is still quite a long time to define the 22-man squad and I'm afraid there is not enough space for all of them."
