Although it might not be the famous Oranje kit of his Dutch national team, van Dijk said he was looking forward to sporting the more classic design next season.

"The more orange, the better for me," he joked. "A different name and a different kit makes it more like a new start. The strip looks more classic and I like it."

Roar will first wear the new strip against Scottish giants Celtic at Suncorp Stadium on July 12.

Van Dijk said the match would be the perfect occasion for the fans to witness the new uniform first-hand.

"It's nice to show a lot of people in the crowd the new strip and play a good game against Celtic, so that's all positive," he said. "It's always great to play against teams who often play in the Champions League and Celtic is one of those teams.

"I hope we can show our home crowd something so they come to the stadium next season."
