Barcelona sporting director Txiki Begiristain insists they will be offering striker Javier Saviola a contract extension in the near future.
Saviola admitted he was concerned that he had not heard anything from the club about a new deal, with his current contract expiring on June 30.
"I just want them to come forward and tell me what they think," the 25-year-old Argentinian said.
"But I am not holding a gun up to anybody. I don't know how to deal with the situation. I don't know what I have to do to make them come and speak to me."
Begiristain responded to those comments by saying: "As we told his agent a month ago, after this break in the league we will start work on the offer.
"We hope that he will study the proposal, and will accept it.
"The club is the one who decides when the offer is to be made," he said on Barca's website.
Should his future lie away from the Nou Camp, then Saviola is unlikely to have any shortage of interest from other clubs.
However, the player insists he does not want to talk about any possible moves until he knows if he will be remaining at Barcelona.
"Out of respect, I won't speak about any clubs. I have not left Barca yet and I don't know yet if I will have to leave," said Saviola, who has netted 12 goals in 21 competitive matches for the Catalan giants this season.
"The day I know what the club thinks, I will start deciding whether to go or not."
"I have had some lovely years here."
