New Socceroo Fran Karacic has had a phenomenal week, leading his NK Lokomotiva side to victory in a tense Zagreb derby.
Lokomotiva mustered one of the performances of the season to out-tussle champions-elect Dinamo 3-1 at home, pushing the club up to fifth place in the Croatian 1.HNL.
The derby victory was incredibly special for the club. Until relatively recently, Lokomotiva were Dinamo Zagreb's farm-team, a club that existed as a sort of youth factory for the Croatian giants.
Although lacking the spice of the Eternal Derby - Dinamo Zagreb and Hadjuk Split - this match was a show-of-force for Karacic, who at just 21-years-old, already captains Lokomotiva.
The loss was only Dinamo's sixth of the season, after 34 matches.
After former Socceroo Robbie Slater slammed the right-back's selection as "smacking of desperation", it won't be bad for the young Croatian-Aussie's confidence, either.
Karacic has made 54 league appearances for Lokomotiva since 2015, in addition to eight appearances for the Croatian U/21 national side.
