Newcastle Jets remain in negotiations with 2017/18 loan star Riley McGree about extending his stay at the Hunter club.
McGree, 19, joined the Jets on loan from Club Brugge in January and had a big impact with the 2017/18 Grand Finalists.
The Australia youth international scored five goals in 12 appearances, including his spectacular scorpion kick goal in the semi-final win over Melbourne City.
Jets coach Ernie Merrick spoke with McGree earlier this week, with the club still hopeful of securing him to another loan deal.
"We're definitely keen to get him back," Jets CEO Lawrie McKinna told FourFourTwo.
"We are talking with his agent.
"Club Brugge have to decide whether they're going to keep him or let him go on loan.
"If so, then it's where he goes on loan. That one's still up in the air."
