SYDNEY Olympic have parted ways with Nick Theodorakopoulos and appointed youth team coach Pat Marando to guide the NSW Premier League club’s senior side for next season.
Theodorakopoulos, a former Newcastle Jets coach and NSL grand final winner with Wollongong, has decided to focus on his business interests outside football, the club said in a statement today.
He joined the club part way through the season after the departure of former Socceroo midfielder Aytek Genc.
Despite signing keeper Mark Bosnich midway through the season, Olympic failed to reach this season's finals ending in eighth spot on the ladder.
Marando has a good record with the club's U/20s taking them to three successive finals appearances and successive grand finals as well as winning the minor premiership last season. He also acted as the first grade assistant coach last season and at times this season.
Marando gets a chance to impress this Saturday when the club's U/20 side plays off in their grand final.
In other news, it's been revealed that Sydney United successfully raised $10,540 for the Holdsworth Community Centre after their friendly clash against A-League front runners Sydney FC in June this year.
