Matilda's star Caitlin Foord will don the state-of-the-art boots
Nike has announced their newest boot release, the PhantomVNM, engineered to be the perfect football boot for the top finishers in the world.
The boots are to be worn by some of the most proficient strikers, including English captain Harry Kane, World Cup Champion Alex Morgan, and Matildas' own Caitlin Foord.

The PhantomVNM has been designed to facilitate a style of finishing that provides a balance between power and placement featuring a series of textured zones as well as the instep's 'Precision Pwr' strike zone to maintain accuracy.
This next-level design was literally created in a lab, with the designers teaming up with Nike's research lab to utilise a robotic leg to test strikes from a variety of angles with urethane injected blades injected on the instep of the shoe.
What resulted was data that formed the specifications of the 'Precision Pwr' strike zone mentioned above.

The strike zone features 13 ridges at specific angles and ascending heights to keep the ball down if it is mishit while also providing the perfect first touch.
Caitlin Foord said: "When I'm shooting, I always favour precision over power. Different situations demand different finishes but I always aim for placement first."
The PhantomVNM has taken a play out of its' Phantom counterpart the PhantomVSN by also increasing the strike zone by covering the laces.

The design also builds off of the Hypervenom3's Hyper-Reactive plate allowing for flexibility in the forefoot for toeing off the ground with torque for sharp cuts.
The PhantomVNM launches on January 19 on nike.com.au.
