The pack consists of light blue and red selections of the Mercurial, Hypervenom, Magista and Tiempo boots.

A mix of experienced and semi-pro players were selected to play a full game at AAMI Park last week with Melbourne City as the Ice team and Western Sydney Wanderers as Fire.

Bulleen winger Jordan Templin and Futsal Oz ambassador Daniel Cappellaro were among the players involved.

The players got to take home the City and Wanderers kits and boots as Cappellaro praised Nike’s initiative.

“I’m currently sponsored by SPT football and I have a very good relationship with Nike Football,” Cappellaro told FourFourTwo at the Nike event.

“I love Nike, I’ve loved it since I was about 10 and when I was old enough to realise what brands were and which brands players wore.

“I liked Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Denilson and Rivaldo who all wore Nike right up to today. My favourite player is Neymar and I love Bruce Kamau.

“Having that relationship with the brands, they asked me if I want to come and play at AAMI Park, I was never going to say no.

“It’s an amazing event Nike have put on, full credit to the team at Nike Football, they’ve gone over and above to release the play fire play ice pack.”

 


The game finished 5-0 to Fire as the A-League and W-League City coaches Warren Joyce took charge of Ice, and Patrick Kisnorbo coached fire.

Templin, who normally plays as an attacking-midfielder or winger, played as a centre-back for the first time in 12 years and felt it was a bit of fun.

“It was really good of Nike to give us this opportunity, Warren Joyce and Patrick Kisnorbo are two of the best coaches in Melbourne,” Templin said.

“They sent out a form just to tell them about who we are, where I play and I was lucky enough to get selected and it was a good opportunity to get out there.”

In the stands City players Luke Brattan and Nick Fitzgerald were watching on.

Brattan said he never got to experience anything like the event before he turned professional.

“It’s great for the boys that are playing to experience the ground and preparation they get,” he said.

“There’s also that opportunity to play against decent players as well in fantastic boots. It’s a great event, credit to Nike and City for putting it on.”
