WELLINGTON Phoenix have completed their A-League pre-season with a comprehensive 5-1 rout of the New Zealand under-20's side in Lower Hutt on Saturday.
The Nix, who have the bye in Round One of the new A-League season, took a 1-0 lead into the break courtesy of Leo Bertos' goal in the first-half before running out easy winners.
Just before the hour mark Ben Sigmund doubled Wellington's advantage after a goalmouth scramble, but the under-20's pulled one back after a mistake from goalkeeper Mark Paston.
With fifteen minutes remaining, Tim Brown converted a Paul Ifill cross to make it 3-1.
Ifill then got on the scoresheet with a lovely strike on 83 minutes with Mirjan Pavlovic rounding out the scoring late on.
Indonesian trialist Bambang Pamungkas, who had hoped to push for a permanent contract in the match, only made a subs appearance off the bench.
