NK Zadar midfielder Hrvoje Custic has died as a result of head injuries sustained during a match in the Croatian Prva Liga at the weekend.
The 25-year-old winger suffered a skull fracture when he collided with a pitchside concrete wall following a challenge with an opponent during his team's 1-0 win over Cibalia Vinkovci on Saturday.
Custic was placed in an artificial coma by medical staff at Zadar Municipal Hospital but succumbed to his injuries on Thursday.
The Croatian football association have confirmed that this weekend's domestic fixture programme has been postponed as a mark of respect to Custic and his family.
