Neill, who is back in Australia for minor groin surgery, is out of contract at Turkish giants Galatasaray at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old defender has been linked with a move to a number of European clubs while reports during the week suggested he could be set for a return to Australia.

But Neill told The Sun-Herald he hasn't made any decisions about his next contract, but ruled out an A-League move for now.

''The one thing I will rule out is a return to Australia, and I say that based on a few things I've heard over the last day or two,'' Neill said.

''I won't be playing in Australia this year or next, that's 100 per cent.''

It is understood clubs from England, Germany and Russia have made enquiries with Neill's management although the Aussie hasn't ruled out staying with Galatasaray.

''It's exciting to be coming off contract and wondering where the future could be, but at that same time I would like to have it sorted out quickly so I can focus on my next job, and if that's Galatasaray, that's great, but otherwise a footballer's career moves on and you roll with it,'' he said.

Neill added: ''I've really enjoyed it at Turkey. Leaving there early (for surgery) was a sad ending to a disappointing season.

“Now I'm looking forward to next season and being 100 per cent and raring to go. I love Istanbul, the people, the lifestyle and the football, and I wouldn't rule out wanting to stay in Istanbul.

''With a club like Galatasaray, a million fans means a lot of passion. So I have ambitions and aspirations to remain in Turkish football but I have had some very serious offers from England.”

Neill previously spent all of his European playing career in England with Millwall, Blackburn, West Ham and Everton before moving to Turkey in 2010.

Neill added: ''I left England for a new challenge and it would have to be the right fit for me to return … I became used to being away from England and am looking at different opportunities to ply my trade in Russia (and) Turkey, while there's whispers to play in Germany as a result of Australia's win over Germany, and that game is still a treasured highlight.''

Sydney-born Neill also said he'd love to try his luck in the highly rated Spanish La Liga.

“I would love to challenge myself in Spain to play the football and to experience the lifestyle,'' he said.

''But Germany (would be great), it's a prestige league, it enjoys a great following and would offer challenges."

Neill also revealed he hopes to be fit and available for Australia's upcoming friendlies in June after his groin operation.

''I was conscious it would be perfect to do it (the surgery) now and give me three or four-week recovery time on an injury that should only need four weeks and to then play for Australia and show it really was only a small procedure," he said.
