Roar managing director Mark Kingsman revealed last month the club would enquire about the Republic of Ireland striker’s availability having confirmed he would be leaving LA Galaxy.

Keane has in turn been links with a handful of A-League clubs, but Aloisi, who was team-mates with the Irishman during their time at Coventry City, moved to shoot down the rumours.

“We won’t be pursuing Robbie Keane,” Aloisi said.

“I said two weeks ago that I hadn’t spoken to him. I haven’t spoken to the owners but we won’t be pursuing.

“I’d love to, he’s a top player, I think he’d be great for the A-League if someone does get him, but we won’t be able to get him.”

Meanwhile, Aloisi said there was no update on contract negotiations with Jamie Maclaren as he said they were “nowhere”.

Maclaren, who is off contract at the end of the campaign, scored 20 goals in his maiden season under ex-Australia forward Aloisi at Roar last term, having moved east from Perth Glory and subsequently breaking into the Socceroos.

The 23-year-old’s agent Paddy Dominguez said Roar had made an offer which was “disgusting” and “highly disrespectful”.

However, Aloisi hit back, stating Roar couldn’t offer Maclaren big bucks but would have provided him with the perfect place to develop.

“They know where we stand,” Aloisi said. “We’d love to keep him but at the moment we haven’t discussed it any further.

“I’ve let everyone know and Jamie know, I think it’s great for Brisbane Roar if he stays for at least another season after this one.

“I also think that’s best for Jamie. We can’t decide for him.

“I think I mentioned last week, if they want money, we won’t be able to give him marquee money which he can earn in Asia and Europe.

“If he wants to keep on developing, I think we’ve got a good environment for him to develop as a player.

“I want him to stay, if he doesn’t then we move on because not one player is a football club.”
