After Brosque's miss against Central Coast last week, he says he's been “put in his place”.

He added: “Talay was going to take it but Bridges screamed at me to grab the ball and take it.

"I wasn't too keen on taking it because I'm not the regular taker. It's one of those things, I've been put back in my place and Talay can take the kicks. No more for me.”

Brosque admitted the weight of expectation got to him as he stepped up to take the penalty which would have given him Sydney's first hat-trick in two years.

“It's the pressure, with 18,190 fans watching what you'll do," he said. "It's a lot of pressure – Talay can handle it, not me!”

The pressure is on for Sydney tonight as they take on the Jets in the first of three tough away games (Melbourne and Wellington to follow).

Brosque says the Jets' defence will be a tough nut to crack.

“Their right and left backs push on and put pressure on our midfielders," he said.

"And Laybutt and North are both great players at the back who's played for Australia, so defensively they're a great outfit.”

Brosque added that under Kosmina “...Sydney is trying to push forward as much as possible. He's added a fair bit more to us this week.

“Hopefully our attack can continue. Juninho, Bridges and Corica are all brilliant. The fact that I can play alongside these boys is brilliant.”
