Wellington Phoenix midfielder Michael McGlinchey insists it’s not time to panic despite his side failing to score in their opening three A-League matches.
Phoenix are bottom of the ladder with no goals scored and no points obtained ahead of Monday’s match away to Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium.
“We did it at the Central Coast,” the ex-Mariners man said.
“We had one point after three games and went on to finish first in the league, so it’s definitely not a time to panic.
“We’re playing good enough football and the goals will come. We’ve got too much quality in the squad for it not to happen.”
Wellington conceded in stoppage-time to lose 1-0 to Sydney FC on Sunday, following two tight offside calls which didn’t go Phoenix’s way.
McGlinchey said the fact Wellington were getting those chances showed that a breakthrough goal wasn’t far away.
“We’re still creating the chances,” McGlinchey said.
“We were unfortunate with the two offside calls which went against us. I think they were both onside.
“We’re still getting in behind and doing what we need to be doing. We just need that little bit of luck, I’m sure we’ll get it.”
