Adelaide United coach Guillermo Amor had no complaints about Morten Nordstrand’s controversial late winner in Friday’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle Jets.
Nordstrand was on the borderline of offside, before racing through and netting a 94th minute winner at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Amor had no problem with the offside decision and said the champions’ desperate need for points was the reason for the late lapse.
“No problem, no,” Amor said. “The problem is we lose the game.
“The draw is more or less done and then they score in the last minute.
“This explanation in this moment is always difficult. We must work more.
“I like one thing, the mentality of the team at 1-1, the team thinks we go for the win, I like this.
“We go with risk. The game is open and dangerous but finally we lose.”
Having fought back to 1-1 with 20 minutes remaining, Adelaide were punished for coughing up three chances in the dying moments.
The Reds’ title defence is now well and truly in tatters as they sit three points adrift at the foot of the ladder.
“At 1-1 in the last five minutes we go and we try [to win the match],” Amor told Fox Sports.
“[The draw] for us is not good, we want three points and not one. We go with the risk.
“Sometimes you can win or lose in one minute and other times we lose in the last moment. It’s always hard when you lose.”
While rumours continue to circle around the double-winning coach, Amor wouldn’t be drawn into speculation regarding his future in Adelaide.
“I’m thinking about winning the next game. No more,” he said.
“The future, the champions and these things are not important.
“It is always [about] this moment, to stay with the group, with the players and to go up all the time and to recover quick to win the next game at home.
“I still think we need to look to the window and get a couple of players.”
