The 2010 World Cup campaign may be over but plans are already locked in for the build up to January's Asian Cup and then qualification for the 2014 World Cup.

The Socceroos will play six friendly matches before the Asian Cup, although the opponents have yet to be confirmed.

"We are using these friendlies as preparation for the Asian Cup, which is the beginning of the 2014 campaign," FFA national head of teams John Boultbee told News Ltd.

"We've got a good number of friendlies organised and I think it's inevitable that there will be some changes.

"We've got one in Europe on August 11, two more in September, one in Australia in October and in November we've got one in North Africa.

"Then we've got a lead up game in the lead up to the Asian Cup."

There is plenty of speculation surrounding the make-up of the squad for the Asian Cup with many suggesting it is an opportunity to blood young talent.

Craig Moore and Scott Chipperfield are the only players who have indicated that they are hanging up their international boots at this stage.

"We'll be making an announcement about the make up of the Asian team in the next couple of weeks," added Boultbee.
