Djite’s name is missing from the list to face South Africa with Verbeek keen to give the player every chance to settle and establish himself in Turkey.

However, the former Adelaide United man’s pre-season scoring spree has not gone unnoticed.

Verbeek said: “We prefer him to play games at his club to get a place in the team. We have contact and we know he is doing well. We keep every player in mind.”

The Socceroos coach has also omitted injured duo Mark Viduka and Tim Cahill for the South Africa friendly and feels the World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan on September 10 may come too soon.

Verbeek said: “I think it will be the end of August when Viduka is fit enough to play games. But they (Viduka) and Cahill are doing well and on schedule.”

The coach said he hoped for good news regarding the pair (for September) but certainly wasn’t banking on it.

But he confirmed Scott Chipperfield intends to help the Socceroos all the way to South Africa in 2010.

The experienced Basel performer has been included in the squad for Australia’s friendly against the next World Cup hosts in London on August 19.

Injury had prevented Verbeek from calling on Chipperfield before now but he is delighted to see him ready, willing and able to help Australia’s cause again.

Speaking to the media today from Shanghai, Verbeek said: “He (Chipperfield) is experienced and very willing to be part of the Socceroos again. It’s good to have him with us. Scott is very interested to be a part of 2010.”

Lucas Neill is also included, having missed Super June’s qualifiers, with Galatasaray’s Harry Kewell also named in squad deliberately devoid of A-League performers.

Verbeek does not want to disrupt the domestic competition so early into the campaign and sees no benefit in dragging the players all the way to London for a couple of days.
