Louis van Gaal's men are top of the Eredivisie at the halfway stage with a three-point lead over second-placed Ajax.

Scheringa told De Volkskrant: "We're going for sporting success. We will let no player leave us in the coming weeks.

"In July we'll be ready for negotiations again and no sooner."

Scheringa believes his players can benefit from staying at the DSB Stadion.

"They understand that they're busy building up their careers and with Van Gaal they can still learn a lot," he said.

Van Gaal believes his players benefited from last season, when they struggled at the wrong end of the table.

"I'm not giving away a secret, but we learned so much from last season that we knew we would find our way back to the top again," said the coach.
