AUSSIES ABROAD: Mile Jedinak's Turkish Cup dream came crashing down after Genclerbirligi slumped to a shock 3-0 semi-final second-leg loss to Istanbul BB on Thursday.
Jedinak's Genclerbirligi were in a strong position to progress to the May 11 decider, after they claimed a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Istanbul BB a fortnight ago.
But in the return match at Genclerbirligi's 19 Mayis Stadium, Istanbul struck three times in the first-half to clinch a 4-1 aggregate win to claim a place in the final against Besiktas.
Jedinak, who has been in fine goalscoring form lately, put in a full shift in the defeat.
Elsewhere in midweek, Brent McGrath was an unused sub as Brondby boosted their UEFA Champions League hopes with a 3-0 win over Esbjerg fB in Denmark's Superliga on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Australian goalkeeper Nathan Coe put in a full shift as SonderjyskE lost 1-0 at Silkeborg IF on Wednesday.
In Switzerland's Super League, Scott Chipperfield was a 68th-minute substitute as FC Basel were held to a 2-2 draw at Neuchatel Xamax on Wednesday.
Chipperfield's Basel have now drawn their past three league fixtures and are only one point clear of second-placed FC Zurich with seven games to play.
In the Russian Cup, Socceroo Luke Wilkshire played a full game as Dinamo Moscow were knocked out at the quarter-final stage 2-1 by FK Rostov on Wednesday.
In the Czech Cup, Kerem Bulut did not play as Mlada Boleslav progressed to the semi-finals after a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday.
In Korea's K-League Cup, ex-Adelaide United defender Rob Cornthwaite scored as Chunnam Dragons won 2-0 at Gwangju on Wednesday.
Cornthwaite played a full game as Chunnam moved into second in Group B.
Elsewhere, Iain Fyfe put in a full shift as Busan I'Park defeated Sangju Sangmu 2-1 while Sasa Ognenovski played the full 90 minutes as Seongnam Ilhwa beat Daejeon Citizen 1-0.
