Going into the regular season as one of the hot favourites for this years crown, Edgeworth have stuttered in their opening two matches, being held to draws in fixtures against Broadmeadow Magic and South Cardiff.

Hamilton have experienced mixed fortunes since opening day and will no doubt be smarting from a surprising 2-0 home defeat to near neighbours Broadmeadow Magic in round 2.

With both clubs desperate to push their claims near the pointy end of the table, this match shapes as a classic between two of Newcastle's strongest semi-professional clubs.

Saturday's lone fixture see's Valentine Phoenix host Toronto Awaba at Cahill Oval.

Phoenix have secured maximum points in their opening two games, a run coach Mick Bolch would no doubt love to keep going against the winless Stags.

Defence is Toronto's Achilles heel at the moment having conceded seven goals in two games, and they'll need to be at their best defensively if they're to shut out a potent Valentine attack.

Weston Workers Bears FC host Broadmeadow Magic on Sunday afternoon in what looks to be a relatively even fixture.

Weston will be keen to consolidate their last start win over Toronto with victory at home, however Broadmeadow will be buoyant after humbling Hamilton in round 2.

Goals galore could be the order of the day at Thomas and Coffee Park, with some of the best attackers in the league meeting in the coalfields.

Also on Sunday South Cardiff meet West Wallsend at Ulinga Oval.

Although winless, South Cardiff have shown enterprise in the opening stages of the season and are perhaps better than their lone point suggests.

Chris Miner's Bluebells will be confident they can take something from their travels having secured their only other three points away to Weston in round 1.
