All the action at Cahill Oval came in the final half hour when super sub Scott Smith again came from the bench to prove the saviour for his club.

 

Having netted a late winner last weekend to steal the points away to West Wallsend, Smith this time struck either side of a Ben Murrell screamer to ensure Mick Bolch's men continued their perfect start to the season. 

 

On Friday night Edgeworth Eagles recorded their third successive draw of 2009, this time at home to Hamilton Olympic.

 

Sean Matthews and Pat Wheeler netted for the home side, with John Majurovski and Chris Berlin scoring for the visitors.

 

Sunday's matches saw victories for the travelling outfits, with Broadmeadow Magic and West Wallsend both victorious.  

 

Broadmeadow did all the damage over Weston Workers Bears FC in the opening stanza, finding the net via a Chris Cousins own goal, and then a sweet Brad Waters finish from the edge of the area.

 

At times Magic played sumptuous attacking football and indeed would have aided their goal difference further hadn't it been for a number of marginal offside calls.

 

South Cardiff, as they have done on three occasions now this season slipped up in the second half to hand victory to West Wallsend.

 

Tom Walker grabbed the late winner for the Bluebells at Ulinga Oval, ensuring his team maintain their top four status for another week.

 

Three rounds in Valentine Phoenix sit atop the state league ladder.

 

Broadmeadow Magic, West Wallsend and Hamilton Olympic round out the top four while Toronto Awaba remain rooted to the foot of the table having yet to secure their first points of the season.
