Round 15 of the Northern NSW State League gets under way this Saturday with minor premiership hopeful Valentine Phoenix welcoming top four contenders South Cardiff to Cahill Oval.
Phoenix brought Edgeworth Eagles unbeaten run this season to an end last weekend with an impressive victory that kept their aspirations to top the table alive.
South Cardiff, on the other hand, has been one of the form teams of the competition in recent weeks, igniting their previously stagnant looking campaign with a string of wins.
With both sides near full strength, the match shapes as a potential classic with both teams desperate to keep their momentum running with just seven rounds to play.
The pick of Sunday's three fixtures sees first placed Edgeworth Eagles host third placed Broadmeadow Magic at Jack McLaughlan Oval.
Magic returned to form with a 5-2 thumping of Toronto Awaba last weekend and will know a win here would see them well placed for a shot at first place.
Conversely, the Eagles will be out to dismiss their first loss of the season to Valentine Phoenix as an off day by beating their long time foes.
Elsewhere, Weston Workers Bears FC welcomes West Wallsend to Thomas and Coffey Park in a match that represents the last chance saloon for the home side.
After a successful semi-final finish in 2008, the Bears have had a disappointing year, registering just three wins in 14 starts and now relying on claiming three points in this one to remain a realistic chance to repeat last years success.
Hamilton Olympic host Toronto Awaba at Darling Street Oval in the final match of the round.
A win against the rock bottom Stags would go some way to easing the pressure on an Olympic side being ardently chased by South Cardiff and West Wallsend for their fourth position spot.
