Round 16 of the Northern NSW State League saw South Cardiff extend their unbeaten run to seven, whilst Hamilton Olympic gave itself some breathing space in the top four with a resounding win.
At Ulinga Oval, South Cardiff, the leagues biggest improvers, continued their semi final charge with a 3-1 win over Edgeworth Eagles.
The victory marked the Gunners fifth straight win, whilst for the first placed Eagles it represents only their second loss this season.
Dean Kelly (2) and Jamie Subat got the goals for the home team, with Sean Babic's lone strike for the visitors not enough to stop the Gunners juggernaut from rolling on.
Interestingly, the two sides meet again in a deferred match this Wednesday night.
Elsewhere, Hamilton Olympic captured what could prove to be a vital three points with a 3-0 away win over fellow top four candidates Broadmeadow Magic at Wanderers Oval.
John Majurovski proved the hero for the travelling side with a hat trick, two of which came from the penalty spot.
Weston Workers Bears FC recorded a massive 6-0 win over Toronto Awaba in the battle of the basement boys at Lyall Peacock Field.
Like Majurovski, Jason Cowburn played a star role by netting himself three goals, with Rhys Tippett, Robbie Turnbull and youngster Tyson Fletcher also etching their names on the scoresheet.
Finally, West Wallsend hosted Valentine Phoenix at Varley Park with each side gaining one competition point courtesy of a 2-2 draw.
Daniel Ciarrocchi (2) scored for the visitors before Tommy Walker struck back for the home team.
Todd McMannus restored parity and salvaged a point for the Bluebells with a penalty close to full time.
