The race for the remaining two places in the Northern NSW State League finals series is set to go down to the wire, with four clubs battling it out for a playoff spot.
With Edgeworth Eagles and Valentine Phoenix safe in the top two spots, Broadmeadow Magic, South Cardiff, Hamilton Olympic and West Wallsend find themselves fighting it out for a chance at grand final glory.
At the weekend, fifth placed Hamilton Olympic gained ground on the top four with a 3-1 win at home to Weston Workers Bears FC.
Chris Berlin and John Majurovski gave Olympic the lead before a Michael Ryan strike just prior to halftime gave the Bears hope.
However, Hamilton extended their lead and secured all three points midway through the second half, Hakin Canli netting with 20 minutes to play.
South Cardiff, despite retaining fourth spot was probably the big loser of the weekend, as they could only manage a 2-2 draw at bottom club Toronto Awaba.
Indeed, the visiting Gunners had to fight from two goals down to leave Lyall Peacock Field with a point, after Tony Cornwall and Troy Halpin gave the Stags a two goal buffer.
Second half Kane Goodchild and Brenton Olzomer strikes saved the day for a stale looking South Cardiff, who must improve if their to hold onto their top four position.
West Wallsend, who must bridge at least a four point gap over the next three games if they're to take part in the finals, lost 2-1 away to Edgeworth Eagles.
Damien Zane and Sean Matthews helped build a two goal lead for the table topping Eagles, before Todd McManus scored a late consolation for the travelling team.
Broadmeadow Magic and Valentine Phoenix each gained a valuable point when they drew 0-0 at Wanderers Oval.
The result allows Magic to hold onto third place, whilst Valentine enhanced their hopes of reeling in Edgeworth for the minor premiership.
