Broadmeadow Magic sit top of the pile after Round 4 of the 2009 Northern NSW State League following an emphatic home win over fellow high flyers Valentine Phoenix at the weekend.
It was Newcastle Jets Youth team duo Simon Mooney (2) and Ben Martin who did all the damage for the home side, as the Wanderers Oval based club ran out convincing 3-0 winners.
Whilst his attack has been firing despite the loss of Adrian Karakelovski to a season ending shoulder injury, afterwards Broadmeadow coach Peter McGuiness praised his sides' defensive strength.
"That's three clean sheets in a row, our defence is setting the platform," McGuiness said.
Elsewhere Weston Workers Bears FC held home side Hamilton Olympic to a 2-2 draw at Darling Street Oval on Sunday.
An early strike by Bears midfielder Luke Walker put the Bears up before Hamilton hit back via Jets youth player Jon Griffiths.
Weston striker Rhys Tippett put the Bears back ahead before the halftime interval with his fourth goal in as many games, however Peter Juchniewicz scored late on to salvage a point for his side.
South Cardiff won the battle of the basement away to Toronto Awaba thanks to goals from debutant Dean Kelly and striker Kane Goodchild.
The Stags hit back through Ben Murrell, and despite dominating the final 15 minutes of the match still remain pointless after 4 rounds.
In the rounds first match Edgeworth Eagles secured their first win of the season when they beat local rivals West Wallsend.
Alex Johnson-Young opened the scoring for the home side before the Bluebells replied courtesy of Michael Sessions.
Sean Matthews provided the winner for Edgeworth close to full time.
