Wet weather may wreak havoc for administrators of Newcastle premier club competition this weekend, with the Hunter having been hit with substantial amounts of rain over the past few days.
All four games in Round 8 of the Northern NSW State League are set down for this Sunday, with Broadmeadow Magic against Edgeworth Eagles looking to be the standout fixture.
The second verse third match up will see home team Broadmeadow aim to erase their last start defeat at the hands of Valentine Phoenix from their memory bank.
On form, however, Edgeworth is the top team in the competition having won their last three. And, having picked influential front man Damien Zane last week, the Eagles may well fancy themselves in this one.
Elsewhere South Cardiff host top of the table Valentine Phoenix at Ulinga Oval.
Having been beaten by last placed Toronto Awaba in round 7, it seems only a herculean home effort from the Gunners will be enough to see them claim three points against a Phoenix side with only one loss to their name this year.
This season's surprise packets West Wallsend host Weston Workers Bears FC at Varley Park, knowing a win should take them back inside the top four.
The Bears were hammered 8-1 at home by Hamilton Olympic last weekend, and will no doubt come out looking to show people they are better than that score line suggests.
Finally, Hamilton Olympic travel to Toronto Awaba to take on a Stag's side undoubtedly buoyed by their first win of the season last weekend.
Former Socceroo and Toronto captain/coach Troy Halpin returns to the paddock following a two game suspension, but will be tested by an Olympic side that haven't lost in five.
