Just two Northern NSW State League Round 8 fixtures went ahead over the weekend, with Edgeworth Eagles the big winners of the round whilst Toronto Awaba's revival continued.
Edgeworth's 2-1 victory away to Broadmeadow Magic saw them leapfrog their opponents into second place.
After a scoreless first half, the Eagles opened the scoring courtesy of a penalty won and finished by Sean Babic.
Despite going down to ten men due to David Baillie's foul on Babic in the box, Magic found an equaliser via a penalty of their own - Ben Martin converting from 12-yards.
Youngster Luke Stawski found the winner for the away side soon after, the midfielder launching an unstoppable left foot drive past Magic custodian Scott Carter.
After securing their first win of the season last weekend, Toronto Awaba managed further success on Sunday, earning a 1-1 home draw with Hamilton Olympic.
Both goals were scored in the opening 45, with Ben Murrell putting the hosts ahead with a cracking strike before Ben Hughes despatched a penalty on the half hour mark.
West Wallsend against Weston Workers Bears FC and South Cardiff versus Valentine Phoenix were both postponed as the Hunter experienced another wet weekend.
