Nurnberg general manager Martin Bader claims he has received death threats after his side lost their third game running at the weekend.
Nurnberg were beaten 4-0 at home by Hamburg on Saturday to slump to second from the bottom of the Bundesliga and Bader has revealed that he has been receiving threats ever since.
"The police called me and said that it would be better if I did not set foot outside my door today," he told the Nurnberger Zeitung newspaper.
Fans called for Bader to resign after Saturday's heavy defeat, but Bader never expected the situation to escalate so much.
"I have already experienced a lot in my time, but to get evil letters after every two defeats is something completely new to me," added the 41-year-old.
Much of the fans' anger is believed to be due to speculation linking Bader with a move to Hamburg to become their new general manager, but he insisted there is no truth to the rumours.
"That is all completely made up," he added.
