Nurnberg bounced back from their shock 2-0 defeat to Karlsruhe last week to claim a 2-1 away win at Hansa Rostock.
The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the first half courtesy of goals from Tomas Galasek (16) and Peer Kluge (25) before Alves Orestes (63) grabbed one back for the hosts.
Defeat for Hansa leaves them still searching for their first points of the season with Orestes' effort being their only goal of the campaign so far.
Nurnberg dominated the first half and took a deserved lead through Galasek.
The Czech Republic international latched onto a pass from Ivan Saenko and, although his route to goal was blocked by Rostock defender Benjamin Lense, he managed to get away a speculative shot which keeper Stefan Wachter misread to allow the ball to fly into his net.
The second followed nine minutes later as Jan Kristiansen supplied the corner for Kluge to finish into bottom-left corner.
Nurnberg were completely in control by now and it could have been 3-0 just after the half-hour mark but Robert Vittek saw his shot go wide.
In the second half Greece striker Angelos Charisteas was eager to get in on the act and made a surging run into the box but as he tried to turn Lense was in his path and cleared for a corner.
The home side eventually managed to mount an attack and Orestes had a shot which was blocked by Charisteas who injured himself in the process.
Rostock began to work their way into the game and grabbed a goal back as Stefan Beinlich whipped in a free-kick from the left which Orestes tucked away.
Nurnberg had chances to increase their lead with a Leandro Glauber header and a Marco Engelhardt free-kick late on, but will settle for a 2-1 win to kick-start their season.
