Tommy Oar won the match-winning penalty for APOEL and Tom Rogic scored again for Celtic in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round overnight.
Igor de Camargo converted the decisive 40th minute penalty in APOEL's 1-0 triumph away to Luxembourg champions F91 Dudelange.
Oar, who started and played 72 minutes, was fouled inside the box chasing a rebound after the Australian's initial shot was saved by opposition keeper Jonathan Joubert.
APOEL will face Romanian champions Viitorul Constanta in the third qualifying round.
Meanwhile, Rogic scored Celtic's second goal, his second in two games, as Celtic defeated Linfield 4-0 to clinch a 6-0 aggregate win.
Rogic fired home a low left-footed strike from outside the box on 46 minutes, which boss Brendan Rodgers described as a "fantastic finish".
The Socceroo also played a big part in the fourth goal going on a jinky run, before losing the ball which fell to Stuart Armstrong to slot away.
Rogic's Celtic will meet Alex Gersbach's Norwegian champions Rosenborg in the next round after they beat Irish champions Dundalk 2-1 in extra-time.
Gersbach was an unused substitute in Rosenborg's victory.
